A former professional actor who saw active service and was wounded during the 1940 Norwegian campaign: evacuated from Andalsnes, April 1940. Appointed Liaison Officer between Norwegian Government and Army in the UK and Scandinavian Section of SOE, August 1940. Founded and led Norwegian Independent Company (NORIC 1) or ‘Linge Company’ that comprised Norwegian personnel selected for service with SOE and Combined Operations. Took part in first Lofoten Raid, February 1941: killed in action in a Combined Operations raid at Maaloy, December 1941.
